The Consignment Center is making plans to reopen in September!

GUILD Consignment Center Springs Forward

While our doors remained closed during a year of pandemic, the GUILD has proven that out of sight is NOT always out of mind.

The forced halt that came to our business this year coincided with the plans of the Cardinal Cushing Center in Hanover to open The Marketplace in time for Christmas shoppers. Unfortunately, just as the new building reached completion, COVID restrictions at Cardinal Cushing prevented students from interfacing with the public. What a gift to be invited to assist in this new venture! Since December, five HCC members and Consignment Center volunteers have worked with Cushing staff to operate Take 2, an upscale thrift shop located on Rt. 53 alongside Unique Boutique and the Cushing Café. The weeks together have allowed us to share ideas, business practices, and help establish the new venture.

As vaccines become widely available and public restrictions are gradually lifted, the Consignment Center is planning to open for a new season in September. A meeting of our volunteer staff will be held at the church (with masks and distancing) at 10am on Wednesday, May 12, to plan ahead for fall. As we reconnect, we will consider schedules, staffing, building use, and make preparations for our 65th Anniversary Year.

Additional volunteers will be necessary to maintain full business hours and maintain quality merchandising. Will your life change this fall? Is your youngest child entering first grade, or heading off to college? Are you newly retired, or seeking a meaningful way to use an available evening or afternoon?
We are able to offer flexible arrangements, utilize your skills and interests, and request only three hours a week as a minimum time commitment.

Please join us on May 12 if you are interested in coming on board, or if you have any questions about the work involved. Feel free to contact Sarah England (england-sarah@comcast.net), Gail Shields (gpsshields@yahoo.com) , or
Marcia Sinclair (marbensin@gmail.com) for more information.
